EPSB Registration & English League Championship

The league has today sent a registration to join the EPSB which will cost £30 for two years from today’s date..

This will allow us to be a recognised league within the EPSB and will also allow us to enter a team into the English League Championship which will be held at Landywood Snooker Club in Walsall. Should anyone be interested in representing the Warrington league then please see the link below as the closing date to enter a team is Friday 22nd March 2023.

Please note you will need to be available on the dates noted in the link below. The league will pay the £100 entry fee for a team participate.

Scott Livingstone of GTBL B has asked the league to share and raise awareness on the following subject. Scott's son Danial was sadly hit by a car and carried 450m down the road on the roof. He is currently in a coma fighting for his life.

The draws for the January competitions will be done in the next few days and posted online. We are now down to the last 16 of each competition and the dates for each competition schedule are in the events tab on the website.

A reminder that all new players must have played 6 league games, existing players 4 league games, to be eligible to play in any competition from the quarter-finals onward, unless approved by the League Council. Any player who has not played the minimum number of games by the date of the schedule quarter final will not be eligible to play in the remainder of the competition.

Well its fair to say that conditions weren't quite what you would expect from a winter snooker league last week. I don't think I've ever known it to be so warm for a snooker evening as it was last Wednesday and Thursday in most clubs.

Road Closure - Wilson Patten Street

Just FYI the Wilson Patten Street in town is due to be closed for the next 5 weeks between 19:00 and 01:00 in the evening. This will directly impact any teams playing away at Deaf Social as well as any teams who would use this road to travel to and from matches in the Penketh, Sankey and Bewsey area of town if they usually go past Bank Quay. Morning all,

2023/24 Season Booklets
We are still in the process of getting the booklets finalised for the upcoming 2023/24 season.

We hope to have these done in time, but if not I will arrange for a fixture list and match cards to be dropped off at each club ahead of the new season. As noted in a post last week the fixtures are now on the website for each team to check as we will be starting on Wednesday 6th/Thursday 7th September.

Before I do so, I will contact each captain/team representative to notify them of where they will be left but these will likely be behind the bar at each club.

If we do manage to get the books finalised ahead of the season we will arrange a meeting at Walkers for teams to come and collect.

Apologies for things not quite being in place this year, we had more teams enter which has meant we are starting a week, or in some cases two weeks, earlier than previous years.

2023/24 Competition Entries
The final date for any competition entries will be at the September meeting on Monday 25th.

This is to allow teams to check with any players over the first few matches if any additional players want to enter competitions that haven't already stated on the intial team registration forms.

Evening all,

Okay all the fixtures, divisions, teams and players are now showing on the website for the 2023-24 season.

Can I ask that each captain/team representative checks over their team to ensure we haven’t missed anyone or made any errors from the original team sheets provided. Note there may be one or two players that need to be added from additons sent across after and some handicaps from new players last season need modifying and well as a final check on any returning players.

Secondly can I also ask that each team has a quick look over their fixtures to make sure they have 15 home and 15 away matches across the season, I have double checked this so they should be correct.

Many thanks to all those who have submitted teams for the 2023/24 season. I am pleased to announce that we have got more entries than last season and it is great to see some new teams entering the league.

Last year we had 25 teams (13 in Division 1 and 12 in Division 2) and this year we have received applications from 29 teams to participate in the league this coming season. At present, we have received 27 registration forms have been received and I am expecting 2 more by the end of this week.
